Liberty Home Guard Home Warranty Review: Is it the Best Back for Your Buck Home Insurance?

Liberty Home Guard promises to guard your home and its appliances against all sorts of issues – maintenance, malfunctions, and damage from general wear and tear. Their protection plans are flexible and customizable, capable of fitting every user’s needs.

I liked:

  • Base plans are simple and easy to understand. Add-ons can be used to customize plans further.
  • There are options for covering your high-end appliances and devices

I didn’t like:

  • It is more expensive compared to other warranty services
  • Pricing and limits are not transparent, so they may try to upsell you on a quote

Liberty Home Guard Plans and Pricing

Liberty Home Guard’s plans are actually really simple. For starters, they don’t have different features or levels of coverage separated by different tiers of plans.

Rather, there are only two real plans: the Systems Guard plan and the Appliances Guard plan. They can be combined in the Total Home Guard plan. All three plans cost $1-2 a day, though this is the minimum and you can expect to pay more.

The difference between the two is simple. The Systems Guard plan covers home systems such as Heating, Electricity, Plumbing, etc. The Appliances guard covers home appliances such as the Dishwasher, Refrigerator, Cooktops, Washers and Dryers, etc.

Liberty Home Guard Plans

The pricing of Liberty Home Guard are high in general. The Appliance Guard plan costs $59.99 a month. If you purchase a year’s worth at a time by paying $625, you get a small discount that brings the monthly due down to about $52.08 a month.

The Systems Guard plan is a little more expensive. It costs $64.99 per month or $675 per year ($56.25 a month).

Interestingly, the Total Guard plan has a very similar price. It costs $69.99 each month, or $725 annually ($62.42 monthly). Despite only costing $5-10 more than the other plans, it still incorporates all their features.

This makes Total Home Guard plan the best bang-for-the-buck. Even though it is the most expensive one, the peace of mind you get from having all your home systems and appliances covered is priceless.

Each plan offers relatively comprehensive coverage for the systems or appliances under them. Also, you can change your plan at any time within 30 days of starting it.

Liberty Home Guard Add-Ons

There is a huge list of optional add-ons you can add to your home guard plan. These add-ons allow you to customize the plans to your needs to a high degree. You can get individual add-ons based on the exact infrastructure and appliances that you own.

For instance, if you own a Pool or Spa, you can get coverage for them. The pumping, heating and filtration systems will be covered. If you have a pump for groundwater collection, it can be covered with an add-on. Roofing leaks coverage is also available. This is quite valuable, as roofing repairs can be expensive.

Lots of other parts of upkeeping a home can be covered. Lighting fixtures, Pest Control, Carpet Cleaning, Lawn Sprinklers, multiple refrigeration and cooling units, standalone generators, water filtering and dispensing systems, etc.

What if you own high-end, professional or luxury appliances? These can cost thousands of dollars – far more than the appliance cap offered by Liberty Home Guard’s plans. Well, in that case, you can add the Pro-Series Coverage add-on.

The Pro-Series coverage add-on is specific to the product, with different options for Refrigerator, Cooktop, Dishwasher, Microwave, Washer and Dryer.

Liberty Home Guard Caps or Limitations

There are some caps on the amount of money you can receive for repairing or replacing your home appliances and systems. However, these caps are not explicitly stated or highlighted.

The caps and payouts can vary between different homes. Therefore, it's best to get a quote for your home warranty service before checking what the caps and limitations are.

Liberty Home Guard Coverage Exclusions

The main coverage exclusion Liberty Home Guard’s customers need to be aware of is the cause of the breakdown.

If the breakdown was caused by a manufacturing defect or by natural wear and tear, then it will be covered by the insurance. This is particularly helpful considering you can warranty any item regardless of how old it is. The warranty applies to everything in your house at the time of purchasing it.

But if it was broken by someone, whether intentionally or by accident, it will no longer be covered.

A few other types of damage are not covered. Air conditioning leaks, mould damage and water damage are on that list. You may wish to explore alternative warranties and insurances like homeowners’ insurance to cover those.

Liberty Home Guard: The Bottom Line

Owning a house is an expensive affair. There are tons of systems we rely on – electricity, plumbing, heating, etc. If any one of these were to malfunction or stop working, it could cause a lot of problems.

In fact, it would be impossible to live without any one of these for a while.

That’s why you should always stay on top of any potential issues.  The best way to do this is to get a warranty service that will pay for the maintenance and repair costs for you.

Liberty Home Guard is one of the best home warranty services for those who want a highly customized package. Most other home warranties offer extra coverage services that increase the cost but are useless to you.

With Liberty Home Guard, that won’t be a problem! Pay for exactly what you need.
